NCP leader Ajit Pawar was named on Monday leader of the opposition In Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, he succeeds BJPDevendra Fadnavis, who was sworn in as the Deputy CM on June 30.
After Speaker Rahul Narvekar announced that Pawar would take over as the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, the NCP has emerged as the single largest opposition party in the 288-member House.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde described Ajit Pawar as a mature politician and administrator.
