The secretary of the Dang district Congress unit was detained on Thursday morning, a day after he announced on social media that he would meet Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel during his scheduled visit to Saputara in Dang.
CM Patel was scheduled to attend the two-day coordinating meeting of the Gujarat BJP Schedule Tribe Morcha that commenced in Saputara Thursday. However, the visit was cancelled at the last minute following which Santosh Bhusara, who was picked up from his home, was released by the cops after recording his statements.
“We detained Santosh Bhusara who had, on social media, announced that he would make representations to the Chief Minister over various issues faced by the people of Dang. He had not sought any permission for the same,” Saputara Police Sub-inspector M Z Bhoye said, adding the Congress leader has been “strictly asked” to not “make any disturbances” when the Chief Minister will visit Saputara on July 29 to inaugurate the annual Monsoon Festival.
The festival, held to promote tourism in the tribal-populated district, will culminate on August 28. ENS
