As incessant rain continues to lash several parts of Mumbai, a chilling video of high tides by the Marine Drive has emerged on social media. According to reports, several pockets of the city received over 200 mm of rainfall between Sunday and Monday morning.
The viral video shows high tides washing the shores near the promenade along the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Road, inundating the area amid heavy rain and gusty winds.
Sharing the video, ANI wrote, “Maharashtra: High tide alert in Mumbai following incessant heavy rainfall. Visuals from Marine Drive.”

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai and has forecast heavy rainfall over the city on Monday. The Met Department has issued an orange alert for July 23. The Met Department has also issued a yellow alert for 16 districts in Maharashtra Thane, Pune, Palghar and Nagpur.
“Nowcast warning issued at 0700 Hrs IST dated 22.07.2024: Moderate spells of rain very likely to occur at isolated places in the district of Mumbai during next 3-4 hours,” IMD wrote on X.

According to the automatic weather station of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), between Sunday and Monday morning, several pockets of the city received over 200 mm rain with the maximum rain recorded in in Trombay (241 mm), followed by Wadala (223 mm), Ghatkopar (215 mm), Worli (204 mm), Sewri (203 mm), BKC (199 mm).
